Nintendo’s Investors Meeting Details

Nintendo has let some very good news out of their investor’s meeting today. Everything from the 3DS eShop to the Wii Vitality Sensor made it into their meeting. No further “Project Café” news, however. Here’s the scoop:

  • The eShop is indeed still pegged for a May release, and a new banner of games called “3D Classics” will be made available.
  • Excitebike 3D will be one of the first under the new “3D Classics” banner and will be FREE!
  • 3DS will have its own Virtual Console catalog and will start off with Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.
  • Nintendo hopes to spread the 3DS Virtual Console to other handhelds like Game Gear.
  • Kid Icarus may release in Japan by late Summer, but it still could be later.
  • Mario Kart 3D was originally supposed to release this year (2011), but development is taking longer than expected and may end up as a 2012 release in some or all territories.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is still set for a 2011 release. However, this is in Japan and the rest of the world may be pushed into 2012 depending on when it’s released there.
  • New Kirby game and Pandora’s Tower set for a Japan 2011 release, as well.
  • New version of Rhythm Heaven for Wii is coming that uses buttons only and no motion controls.
  • The Wii Vitality Sensor is still in the works. This may come as a surprise to some, but since Wii’s successor is said to be able to use all of Wii’s peripherals, it could be a big thing for the next console, too.

As you can see, not too many in-depth details have been released about a lot of Nintendo’s products and no further details about Wii’s successor at all. E3 2011 is right around the corner, however, so we should all look forward to what Nintendo is going to say and show off there.
